Amon-Ra St. Brown Says He's 'Motivated as Ever' After Lions' 'Disappointing' 2025 NFL Season

Adam WellsMay 9, 2026

After missing the playoffs last season, Amon-Ra St. Brown is on a mission to get the Detroit Lions back into the mix of NFC Super Bowl contenders in 2026.

Speaking to ESPN's Eric Woodyard, St. Brown explained he has "been motivated as ever" this offseason after the Lions' "disappointing" results from last season.

"I've been excited to get back to work. I feel like last year, we had a disappointing season as a team. That's how we feel internally. So, I've just been excited to get back to work," St. Brown said. "I've been motivated as ever. I feel like I'm motivated every year, but this year, I feel like it was a little different."

The Lions had been arguably the most dominant team in the NFC, at least during the regular season, from 2023 to '24. Their 27 wins over that two-season span were most in the NFL. They won back-to-back division titles for the first time since 1952 to '54.

Last season was a step back for Detroit with a 9-8 record. The second half of the year, in particular, was frustrating for the Lions. They lost five of their final eight games after a 6-3 start, including three straight losses from Weeks 15-17.

It was their first losing streak of at least three games since 2022 when they lost five straight before closing the year with eight wins in their final 10 games.

St. Brown was not among the biggest problems for Detroit in 2025. He finished with 117 catches, 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns. It was his fourth straight season with at least 100 receptions and 1,100 receiving yards.

Having St. Brown even more motivated to build on that performance is bad news for the rest of the NFC North as the Lions look to get back on track.
