Assessing Every MLB Team's Development System ⚾
The Red Sox were initially hopeful that Anthony would be able to avoid a stint on the injured list, according to MLB.com's Ian Browne.
In the first inning of Boston's win over Detroit, the 21-year-old appeared to tweak his wrist on a check swing and exited the contest in the bottom of the second frame.
Following a 2025 season in which Anthony slashed .292/.396/.463 and finished No. 3 in American League Rookie of the Year voting, he was still searching for more consistency at the plate to open his 2026 campaign.
In 30 appearances this year, he's hitting .229 with one home run and five doubles to go along with five RBI. Anthony has also posted a .675 OPS.
The Red Sox currently sit at the bottom of the AL East standings with a 16-21 record.
