WNBA GMs Decide Between Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson, More for MVP Award in 2026 Survey

Joseph ZuckerMay 5, 2026

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson made history when she collected her fourth WNBA MVP. In the eyes of general managers, the odds are squarely in her favor to widen her lead in the record books.

Wilson was the overwhelming pick with nine out of 15 votes in the annual GM survey. New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart was next with four votes, while Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray each received one vote.

Wilson further cemented herself as the best player on the planet when she averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocks during the regular season before powering the Aces to a third title.

Voter fatigue is always a consideration with a player as dominant as Wilson. She sets the bar so high that she can put together another excellent season in 2026 that's nonetheless judged as a step backward compared to her past performance.

But when the Minnesota Lynx's Napheesa Collier, the MVP runner-up in 2024 and 2025, is sidelined until at least early June, there isn't a standout challenger to Wilson's crown.

This year's survey also partially reflects how the expectations surrounding Clark have shifted a bit.

Heading into her third season, the 2024 Rookie of the Year should be poised to take a big jump. Instead, she received the same number of MVP votes as in the last GM survey.

Injuries limited Clark to 13 appearances in 2025. Even setting that aside, her scoring and shooting were down, and her turnovers were up relative to how much she was playing.

Although Clark still possesses a ton of potential, the hype has generally slowed a bit. That might not be a bad thing, either, as it eases the pressure on her.

Wilson and Stewart were both in Year 3 when they won their first MVP and made their first Finals appearance, with Stewart lifting a title in 2018. Maybe this is when Clark and the Fever make their breakthrough.
