Saturday Highlights

The weeklong break between closing out the first round and starting the second didn't seem to slow down the Hurricanes.

The Canes' second line of Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake continued the dominance they displayed against the Senators with two goals in their first eight minutes against the Flyers.

One of the Flyers' best scoring chances of the game came in the second period when Garnet Hathaway got a breakaway out of the penalty box.

He didn't manage to get a shot out of the opportunity before K'Andre Miller dove forward to swipe the puck off his stick.

Stankoven then padded the Hurricanes' lead with his second goal of the game. The Flyers finished out the second period having been outshot 21-9.

Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen withstood a flurry of late offense from the Flyers to preserve his 19-save shutout.

The victory marked Andersen's 24th playoff win with the Hurricanes, moving him past Cam Ward for the most in franchise history.

The Flyers were unable to build on the momentum of their series-clinching Game 6 overtime win against the Pittsburgh Penguins by finding an answer to the Hurricanes' stifling defense.

Philadelphia will need to find a way to get more high-danger shots on net in order to become the first team this postseason to earn a lead over the Hurricanes when the series continues in North Carolina on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
