Odell Beckham Jr. Rumors Addressed by Giants' John Harbaugh After Malachi Fields Draft Pick
New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh discussed rumors surrounding a potential reunion with veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after the team selected Notre Dame receiver Malachi Fields in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft.
"I think if we do anything, just being honest about it, it has to make sense for the Giants," Harbaugh told reporters Saturday (0:12 mark). "It has to make sense for him. He's in a different place of his career, for sure."
"He wants to be part of the team," he added. "He wants to contribute, he wants to help the young guys. That's what he's talking about doing. He still thinks he has some juice and he looked good in workouts. He's still gonna be able to play. It's not gonna be the old Odell, it's gonna be a different version. 2.0, I guess you'd say. We're not decided on that yet, he's not quite decided on that yet. We just kind of have to see where we're at this next week."
Beckham, who's currently a free agent, visited the Giants' facilities for a workout and a physical on Monday.
On Friday, New York traded up to to select Fields with the No. 74 overall pick in the 2026 draft.
The 22-year-old excelled as a deep threat with the Fighting Irish in 2025, recording 630 receiving yards and five touchdowns while averaging 17.5 yards per reception.
The addition of Fields could decrease the likelihood of Beckham returning to the Giants, the team that he spent the first five years of his career with.
The 33-year-old didn't play during the 2025 season after hauling in nine receptions for 55 yards across nine appearances with the Miami Dolphins in 2024.
