Giancarlo Stanton Injury Update Provided by Yankees' Aaron Boone After Exit vs. Astros
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone isn't hitting the panic button yet after Giancarlo Stanton was removed in the sixth inning of Friday's 12-4 win over the Houston Astros with an apparent calf injury.
Boone told reporters after the game it's "too early" to be concerned about Stanton after he signaled that he was in some discomfort after running from second to third on J.C. Escarra's single in the top of the sixth.
"Hopefully we got ahead of anything serious," Boone said, "but we'll just see where he's at tomorrow."

Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reported during the game that Stanton was removed due to tightness in his right calf.
Any injury to Stanton is going to be sound alarm bells given his history, but a lower-leg issue in particular is one that will be closely monitored.
Stanton has had issues with his hamstring, calf, quad and Achilles injuries throughout his career. He missed time in both the 2023 and '24 seasons due to hamstring strains.
Boone added that the Yankees don't currently have any tests planned for Stanton, but that could change depending on how he feels.
Stanton has been healthy to start the season prior to Friday. He appeared in 24 of the Yankees' first 26 games, though he is off to a slow start with a .256/.302/.422 slash line in 96 plate appearances.
The five-time All-Star still has high-level metrics that suggest he will pick things up. His bat speed is in the 100th percentile, with his average exit velocity and barrel rate both above-90th percentile.
Stanton's injury also came as the Yankees are in the midst of their hottest stretch of the young season. They have won seven straight games, including sweeps over the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox.
Randal Grichuk took over at designated rotation for Stanton on Friday night. He will likely be part of a DH rotation if Stanton misses time. Ben Rice, Paul Goldschmidt and Amed Rosario could also get time at the position.
The Yankees are in the midst of a nine-game road trip that runs through April 29. They will play the second game of their series against the Astros on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
