Everything Shedeur Sanders Said About New Browns HC Todd Monken, Learning Playbook
Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders praised new head coach Todd Monken's communication skills while speaking to reporters Tuesday after a voluntary minicamp practice.
"The coaches are able to communicate in different ways to help you learn, and that's why I appreciate the coaching staff," Sanders said when asked Tuesday about how he was learning Monken's playbook, per Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein.
Sanders continued, "You could say that somebody don't know how to learn, but it's like, how did that person get all the way to this level if he don't know how to learn? So then you've got to change the perspective and think, 'Does he not know how to learn?... or do I not know how to communicate with him?'

"It's as simple as that. So I'm just thankful that my coaches now are extremely embracing."
The Browns have yet to commit to a starting quarterback for 2026 as the team heads into next season with Sanders, Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel on the roster.
Those three quarterbacks could be competing for the starting job under Monken, who is preparing to take on his first NFL head coaching role after three seasons as offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders told reporters Tuesday that Monken and his staff were bringing "a new vibe" to the organization after a 5-12 finish to last season.
"They push you each and every day, in the meeting room and on the field, in the weight room," Sanders said. "It's a new vibe, it's a new energy."
Gabriel and Sanders were present at Tuesday's practice. Watson was also in attendance after missing last NFL season amid recovery from multiple tears of his right Achilles tendon.
Sanders got the first look at 11-on-11 drills out of that trio, per Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
Sanders made eight appearances and seven starts as a rookie, completing 56.6 percent of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while helping the Browns claim three of their five total wins last season.
Monken recently said it was his responsibility, as well as that of his coaching staff, to help Sanders build on that rookie campaign when speaking to ESPN's Kevin Clark for This Is Football.
"I think you see playmaking ability. I think you see a player that is confident in his skill set," Monken told Clark about Sanders. "So when you see that playmaking ability and inner confidence, you say, 'OK, there's something to work with there.'"
He continued, "I do think what you see on tape are those aspects. A very young player that really didn't grow up in a pro-style offense. That's not his fault. ... Now, it's gonna be our fault if we can't develop them."
Monken told reporters after Tuesday's practice the Browns were "just rotating" which quarterbacks got reps with the first team, per NBC Sports' Josh Alper.
The workload between Sanders, Watson and Gabriel could change over the next two days of minicamp, according to Monken.
