Building the Ultimate 30-Man MLB Roster With 1 Player From Every Team
It's always fun debating MLB All-Star Game rosters, and part of what makes that a unique exercise is honoring the rule of selecting one player to represent each of the 30 teams.
Let's take that one step further.
Ahead, we've built a 30-man roster made up of one player from each team, with 15 position players and 15 pitchers.
Leaning heavily into a player's track record while still accounting for early 2026 performance, the goal was to build the best roster possible. This should read like a functional big league roster, though a few guys will be in slightly different roles than they currently occupy.
Let the debate begin!
Starting Lineup

Starting Lineup
1. DH Shohei Ohtani, LAD
2. LF Ronald Acuña Jr., ATL
3. 3B José Ramírez, CLE
4. CF Aaron Judge, NYY
5. 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., TOR
6. RF Corbin Carroll, ARI
7. SS Bobby Witt Jr., KC
8. C Shea Langeliers, ATH
9. 2B Nico Hoerner, CHC
Notes
-Penciling in Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bobby Witt Jr. and José Ramírez provided the foundation for a superstar lineup and took five teams off the board immediately.
-A rocky start to the season by Cal Raleigh, coupled with the Athletics lack of high-end pitching talent, made Shea Langeliers the choice in the starting catcher's role. The slugger had a 129 OPS+ with 31 home runs and 3.9 WAR last season. He is off to a terrific start at the plate in 2026.
-With so much power in this lineup already, Nico Hoerner provides elite defense, speed and contact skills. He plugs in nicely as something of a second leadoff hitter out of the No. 9 spot in the lineup.
Bench

Bench
C Ryan Jeffers, MIN
IF Elly De La Cruz, CIN
IF Gunnar Henderson, BAL
OF Brandon Nimmo, TEX
OF James Wood, WAS
DH Yordan Alvarez, HOU
Notes
-As the clear top option for their respective teams, Elly De La Cruz and James Wood were easy decisions to add to the roster. Given his MVP-caliber start to the season, Yordan Alvarez also felt like the only real choice for the Astros.
-The Twins were one of the toughest teams to nail down. Ace Joe Ryan was initially penciled into a rotation spot, but with so many elite starting pitchers, he was ultimately squeezed out. Catcher Ryan Jeffers is off to a strong start at the plate. He has quietly been a top-15 caliber catcher for several years running.
-There is a compelling Brandon Nimmo vs. Wyatt Langford debate, but with Langford's slow start and Nimmo's experience in center field, the longtime Mets star ends up being the best fit for our roster.
Starting Rotation

Starting Rotation
LHP Tarik Skubal, DET
RHP Paul Skenes, PIT
LHP Cristopher Sánchez, PHI
RHP Sandy Alcantara, MIA
RHP José Soriano, LAA
Notes
-Along with the five-man group of hitters highlighted earlier, Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes were also part of the first wave of superstars viewed as non-negotiable inclusions on the roster.
-Despite all their star power on the offensive side, the cleanest fit for the Phillies was either starter Cristopher Sánchez or closer Jhoan Durán. Adding a second left-hander to the rotation provided more balance. Sánchez is arguably the No. 2 lefty in baseball behind Skubal, so he got the nod.
-There's no ignoring the red-hot start José Soriano is off to for the Angels. He has made some legitimate changes to his pitch usage by throwing his four-seamer and splitter more, so there is something to point to as the catalyst for his breakout.
Bullpen

Bullpen
RHP Jacob Misiorowski, MIL
RHP Nolan McLean, NYM
RHP Drew Rasmussen, TB
RHP Grant Taylor, CWS
RHP Jimmy Herget, COL
LHP JoJo Romero, STL
RHP Ryan Walker, SF
LHP Aroldis Chapman, BOS
RHP Andrés Muñoz, SEA
RHP Mason Miller, SD
Notes
-The final instant inclusion on our roster during the first wave of this process was Mason Miller, as he has unequivocally established himself as baseball's most overpowering reliever. No super bullpen would be complete without him.
-Grant Taylor, JoJo Romero, Ryan Walker and Jimmy Herget all fit the "best available" category from teams that didn't have a clear superstar. That said, all four have the stuff to be high-leverage options.
-Including three starters in the 10-man bullpen provides a more well-rounded staff. Jacob Misiorowski and Drew Rasmussen both have experience pitching out of the bullpen, while it's scary to think about how Nolan McLean's stuff might play up in an abbreviated role.
