Steelers Reportedly to Meet with B/R's No. 4 QB Prospect amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors Before NFL Draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers are apparently considering some of the top quarterback prospects in the 2026 NFL draft amid uncertainty as to whether Aaron Rodgers is returning next season.
Former Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is scheduled to visit the Steelers on Wednesday, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Allar is ranked as the No. 4 quarterback and the No. 104 prospect available in Bleacher Report's latest 2026 big board.

The Steelers had reportedly met with Allar at the NFL scouting combine. The team has also reportedly hosted Arkansas' Taylen Green, who is ranked as the No. 5 quarterback and No. 119 prospect on the B/R big board.
Pittsburgh has reportedly previously hosted Miami's Carson Beck (No. 6 quarterback, No. 124 overall prospect) and North Dakota State's Cole Payton (No. 7 quarterback, No. 129 overall prospect).
Head coach Mike McCarthy also traveled in March to watch LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier (No. 3 quarterback, No. 65 overall prospect) work out at his pro day, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported the Steelers originally expected to know whether Rodgers would remain their starting quarterback within the first month of the offseason.
Steelers owner Art Rooney II is now "hoping" to receive news as to whether Rodgers will be returning next season by the time the NFL draft starts April 23 in Pittsburgh, according to Schefter.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan is currently heading into the draft with 12 picks, including the No. 21 pick in the first round.
Pittsburgh has two quarterbacks already on the roster in Mason Rudolph and Will Howard, the latter of whom McCarthy has described as "a real prospect as a starting quarterback." Rudolph is set to play next season on an expiring contract, while Howard is on his rookie deal through 2028.
Whether Rodgers returns, and whether Howard impresses the Steelers this offseason, might not stop the Steelers from targeting a quarterback at No. 53 or deeper in the draft.
Pryor recently reported that the Steelers "appear more likely to use their first-round pick on a position other than quarterback," but that "it seems likely the Steelers will draft a QB regardless of Rodgers' future or Howard's trajectory."
Allar measured in at 6-foot-5 and 228 pounds at the March scouting combine, where he participated in throwing drills to give scouts a first look at his return to the field after undergoing left ankle surgery in October.
Prior to his injury-shortened senior college season, Allar had completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 3,327 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his 2024 campaign with Penn State.
Allar's draft stock has dipped since he was projected as a potential QB2 behind Miami's Cam Ward in the 2025 draft, potentially putting him into the Steelers' range in Day 2 and making him a backup candidate should the Steelers reunite with Rodgers next fall.
