Pat McAfee, Randy Orton Attack Jelly Roll, Cody Rhodes in WWE SmackDown Video Before WrestleMania 42
Friday night's WWE Smackdown started out with a confrontation between Jelly Roll and Pat McAfee.
WWE showed footage of Jelly Roll and McAfee arguing in a hallway outside the event at SAP Center in San Jose.
McAfee later made his way to the ring and called out CM Punk, calling him "spineless" and a "fraud."
Randy Orton later arrived to team up with McAfee as the pair took out undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes in the ring.
McAfee had originally gotten in the ring to confront Rhodes on his own before Orton joined him.
McAfee ended up grabbing Rhodes' championship belt and taking it out of the stadium.
McAfee was previously revealed as Randy Orton's mystery accomplice ahead of his WWE Universal match with Rhodes during WrestleMania 42 starts from April 18-19 in Las Vegas.
Orton initially teased McAfee's arrival by sharing a video of himself speaking with a mystery caller.
McAfee, a former NFL player turned ESPN analyst, made his in-ring WWE debut in 2020. His return comes amid a streaming partnership beginning this year between ESPN and WWE.
The reveal of his involvement in the Orton-Rhodes storyline took place during WWE Smackdown on April 3 in St. Louis, when McAfee jumped into the ring and attacked Rhodes.
Orton had previously turned heel when he attacked Rhodes during WWE Smackdown on March 13.
Rhodes and Orton will fight in the main event of Night 1 of Wrestlemania when the event takes place next weekend at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
