The Detroit Lions' schedule for the 2026 season has officially been revealed.
After the Lions missed the playoffs last year following consecutive postseason appearances in 2023 and 2024, they'll look to contend in the NFC once again with Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs leading the way offensively.

Analysis
Despite finishing with a 9-8 record, the Lions still sat at the bottom of the NFC North standings. A silver lining is that Detroit will now face a fourth-place schedule in 2026.
Because of the Lions' No. 4 finish within the division, they're set to play other fourth-place teams including the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.
That could give Detroit a chance to rack up wins outside the NFC North after the Titans, Giants and Cardinals finished with a combined record of 10-41 last season.
The Lions are also set to play against all four teams in the NFC South and AFC East divisions in 2026. While the AFC East sent two squads to the playoffs last year, the entire NFC South failed to produce a team with a winning record.
Detroit will have six games against its NFC North rivals as well.
Pivotal Matchups
The Green Bay Packers always present an intriguing challenge for the Lions and Detroit could be searching for revenge after losing both games against Green Bay in 2025.
A home matchup with the New England Patriots may end up being the Lions' toughest test of the season, as a win over a Patriots squad coming off a Super Bowl LX appearance could provide hope for the playoff outlook of head coach Dan Campbell's team.
The clash with the Giants might be a breakout game for Gibbs, as New York owned the NFL's second-worst run defense last season.
Gibbs is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he rushed for 1,223 yards and 13 touchdowns in 17 games, averaging 5.0 yards per carry.
Detroit will also be looking for continued success when facing the Chicago Bears in order to improve its position within the division, as it won both contests against the defending NFC North champions last season.
