Shohei Ohtani Talks 'Mechanical Changes' After Dodgers Star 'Didn't Feel That Great' vs. Blue Jays
Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was largely brilliant when he allowed one unearned run and four hits in six innings during Wednesday's start against the Toronto Blue Jays, but he admitted something was still off.
"I didn't feel that great," he said, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. He also wasn't sure if it was because of fatigue or something else.
"I'm not sure if that was the main cause, but I want to make sure that I'm addressing, if any, some mechanical changes."

Ardaya explained the Dodgers had rearranged their rotation, which left seven days in between Ohtani's starts. While he is unlike any other starting pitcher because he is also a dominant hitter on days he doesn't pitch, it was still some additional time compared to the normal routine.
The inconsistent schedule has done nothing to slow Ohtani's results.
Through two starts, he has a 0.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 12 innings. If that is someone who "didn't feel that great," the rest of the league is officially on notice when he does feel at his best in future starts.
As a hitter, Ohtani is slashing .267/.407/.489 with three home runs and eight RBI in 12 games. Those are solid numbers, and his track record suggests they will only improve after he launched 55 home runs last season while helping lead the Dodgers to their second straight World Series title.
If he ends up making some changes to feel better on the mound and continues to pitch at the level he has in the early going, it would be anything but surprising if there is a third straight World Series title in October.
