Latest Cowboys Rumors on Potential Trade Up with Browns, Carnell Tate Landing Spots, More
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly expected to be aggressive in the 2026 NFL draft to land the prospect of their dreams.
ESPN's Matt Miller and Jordan Reid mapped out the potential draft scenarios for the Cowboys and other teams, reporting that Dallas could try to move up in the order from the No. 12 pick.
"Trading up continues to be a possibility, especially if there's a player they have high on their board who backslides a tad," Reid wrote. "Safety Caleb Downs (Ohio State) and edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. (Miami) are believed to be players whom the Cowboys would maneuver for, as Dallas reportedly sees both as instant-impact game changers on defense."

A potential trade spot for the Cowboys would be the No. 6 selection, which is owned by the Cleveland Browns, who showed last year that they won't hesitate to trade back for the right price. Miller stated that "leaguewide sources believe the Browns would trade out from No. 6 to a team like Dallas, which is trying to move up for a pass rusher."
The Browns traded down with the Jacksonville Jaguars from No. 2 to No. 5 in the 2025 draft and selected defensive tackle Mason Graham, allowing the Jags to land two-way phenom Travis Hunter.
Miller noted that there's a chance that Cleveland decides to stay put, as the "chatter around the league is that wide receiver is in play at No. 6." He named Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate as "the name most often associated with the Browns."
It sounds like there could be some major movement up and down the board when the 2026 draft begins on April 23, so things are sure to heat up over the next few weeks.
