Public Money on 11 point favorite Patriots vs. Bills

- Betting Line: Patriots -11

The New England Patriots have lost quite a few players on the defensive side of the ball but everyone in New England will be very excited to see Tom Brady back under center Monday night. Brady looks to reunite with big time playmaker Randy Moss and his solid possession receiver Wes Welker. New England will rely heavy on the pass as they don’t truly have a star running back. Fred Taylor will join Kevin Faulk and Laurence Moroney in the backfield. However, the run game isn’t that big of a concern when you have Tom Brady slinging the ball all over the field.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
As for Buffalo’s offense, they still have a lot of question marks. Terrell Owens has been brought in but Trent Edwards has yet to legitimize himself as a professional quarterback. I expect the Pats defense to put a lot of pressure on the young Edwards who will be playing in a very hostile environment on a Monday night. Running back Marshawn Lynch will not play due to suspension so Fred Jackson figures to get the bulk of the carries for the Bills.
As mentioned earlier, there will be a lot of new faces on defense for the Patriots with the losses of Mike Vrabel, Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, and Richard Seymour. With those veterans gone, the Pats will be younger but not necessarily better. Linebacker Jerod Mayo will be the team’s leader as he was the NFL’s top defensive rookie a year ago. The Pats have also added depth to the secondary by adding cornerbacks Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs. They also drafted safety Patrick Chung and this unit should be a strength for this defense.
Buffalo on the other hand is looking to end an 11 game losing streak to the Patriots. It is also important to note that the average margin of victory for the Patriots has been an astounding 20 points per game in the last eleven times theses teams have played one another. The Buffalo defense will have its hands full going up against a potent New England offense but this team has potential to be decent as they ranked 14th in total yards allowed last year.. The Bills have struggled rushing the passer which will be critical tomorrow night. They hope the return of Aaron Schobel and the emergence of first round draft pick Aaron Maybin will help the cause. If the Bills can pressure Brady, they have a shot at staying in the game.
I think Buffalo will struggle on offense and the defense will just not have enough to slow down the Patriots passing game. I expect New England to get the win on Monday night at home with a crowd that should be very loud and excited for the return of Tom Brady. Odds makers have installed New England as a 10.5 point favorite but there are varying numbers out there. Some books have New England -11 and a few have them as high as -12.5.
