Watch Orioles Become 1st Team in MLB History to Win Game on Successful ABS Challenge
The Baltimore Orioles made MLB history on Wednesday.
They became the first team ever to win a game on a successful ABS challenge after Albert Suárez delivered the game-winning strike to beat the Texas Rangers. The call was initially deemed a ball, but after a review, it was called a strike.

Wednesday wasn't the first time the Orioles have benefited from the ABS system in a clutch moment. In Sunday's rubber match against the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore overturned two pitches with the tying run at the plate for the Twins, leading to a strikeout for the second out of the inning. The Orioles held on to win that game 8-6.
Less than a week into the 2026 campaign, it's quickly become evident how much ABS is going to be used moving forward. It seems nearly every game has multiple ABS challenges—though not all of them are successful.
ABS was put into place to ensure crucial calls—like the one in Wednesday's game—are accurate, while also allowing umpires to make the majority of the calls. Whether ABS has been a positive thus far is up for debate, but it at least gives players the chance to get a review on crucial calls.
The Orioles picked up the win on Wednesday, but they lost the series against the Rangers 1-2 and are sitting at 3-3 on the year. The win on Wednesday was one of their best performances thus far, as they recorded 12 hits on offense and used just two pitchers, who combined for five strikeouts while giving up eight hits.
Baltimore will look to build off of Wednesday's win as it tries to get back in the postseason. The Orioles also won't be shy about using ABS after their luck with it through six games.
