How Twitter Reacted to Jack Wilshere's Latest Injury Setback
Arsenal fans may have experienced a bout of deja vu on Thursday. Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere will be absent from proceedings for several weeks after getting on the wrong side of a heavy tackle in training, according to the Press Association (via the Guardian).
BBC Sport's David Ornstein noted the nature of the injury and gave a slightly extended timetable for Wilshere's recovery:

The young England midfielder is no stranger to the physio room, having suffered numerous setbacks during a relatively short career:
When the news broke, Twitter provided plenty of reaction from folks who obviously do not feel sympathy for the 23-year-old millionaire who has already lived most people's dreams:
"Jack Wilshere's ankle scan. pic.twitter.com/FcNHEWFNdd

"@Ethxnafc this was Gabriel's reaction when he found out he ruined Wilshere's season. Shocking! ✌️ pic.twitter.com/9ImwcjqbYQ

"Wilshere is such a wuss. Gervinho's been playing his whole career with a hairline fracture. pic.twitter.com/QZ132Udzzk
— Ayman (@ReaIityCech) August 6, 2015"
Thanks to the nature of his injury, there were also a surprising number of "hairline" gags out there:
"Wilshere Injury has nothing to do with our medical staff. Down to bad luck. Can't believe he's crocked again. Must be devastated.
— Brözil (@MaestroAFC) August 6, 2015"
The reaction of the majority of Arsenal fans, however, was one of disappointment:
During Arsenal's FA Cup celebrations at the end of last season, Wilshere managed to get on the wrong side of Tottenham fans by making his views on them clear via the medium of song. Accordingly, the White Hart Lane faithful have reacted to his latest setback with glee:
"I expect to see Gabriel shipped off to Barnet by tomorrow morning. Get out of my club @gpaulista5
— Ollie (@AFCOllie) August 5, 2015"
While most Gunners fans are upset and Spurs fans are overflowing with schadenfreude, a small contingent have decided to vent at the man apparently responsible for the training-ground injury: Gabriel Paulista.
Much of the reaction is not suitable for publication here (see some NSFW reactions at 101 Great Goals), but the defender has been subjected to vile scorn and even death threats:
"Gutted about another Wilshere injury, but seriously blaming Gabriel?! Even worse, why has it been leaked that he's the one who tackled him?
— Jake (@WilshereTouch) August 5, 2015"
Naturally, the majority of right-minded individuals have been unimpressed, with Arsenal fans subjecting one of their own players to such torrid abuse:
"Ignore the abuse @gpaulista5. It's only a small number of idiot people who aren't fans of the club.

"Im upset that Gabriel accidentally injured Wilshere in training but u dont see me disrespecting our very own players. Arent we a class bunch
— Dwight Richards (@gunnabwoy) August 6, 2015"
"Wilshere fanboys: jack will come back just as good! Me: yeah! WF: and even better! Me: yeah! WF: & win balon Dor! Me: pic.twitter.com/zlW5BbqOTq
— Tosi (@OzilAssist) August 6, 2015"
Wilshere may not return until mid-September, and sadly, there is simply no telling what path his career will take going forward.
