Dolphins GM Shuts Down De'Von Achane Trade Rumors After Waddle Deal, Eyes Contract Extension

Andrew PetersMar 30, 2026

De'Von Achane's name has emerged in trade speculation since the Miami Dolphins traded wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, but the running back isn't on the market.

Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan told reporters Monday that Achane isn't on the trade block and signing him to an extension is a "priority" this offseason.

"There is zero effort on my end to move Achane," Sullivan said.

Sullivan added that Achane, center Aaron Brewer and linebacker Jordyn Brooks are the "three pillars" he wants to extend and build around.

The Dolphins haven't hesitated to move on from players this offseason, releasing Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb and trading Minkah Fitzpatrick to the New York Jets.

Given the fire sale in Miami, teams reportedly questioned whether Achane would be moved. ESPN's Adam Schefter noted earlier this month that multiple clubs had reached out about Achane but were told that he's not available.

That makes plenty of sense given Achane's early success. The former third-rounder had a career season in 2025, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns while adding 488 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

The Dolphins might be heading toward a rebuild, but they clearly want to see things through with some of their young talent.
