Floyd Mayweather Gives Update on Manny Pacquiao Boxing Fight, Casts Doubt on Rematch

Floyd Mayweather wasn't confident in his upcoming fight with Manny Pacquiao materializing, as the location of the bout is still up in the air.

"As of right now, we don't know exactly where the fight is going to be at," Mayweather said Saturday, via ESPN's Andreas Hale. "We don't know the location of the fight. The Sphere is one of the places that they talked about. So, we don't know if it's a hundred percent going to be there. And this is not actually a fight, it's an exhibition."

On Feb. 23, Netflix announced that Mayweather and Pacquiao would have a rematch at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

The two boxing legends first faced off in May 2015, with Mayweather emerging victorious.

Pacquiao previously confirmed that he wanted their next matchup to be a professional fight, although his opponent is now looking forward to an exhibition bout.

"It's an exhibition, so we're both winners," Mayweather said Saturday, via Hale. "I mean, we just want to go out there and entertain the people and put on a good show."

Pacquiao initially retired in 2021, but came back to fight Mario Barrios in a July 2025 clash that ended in a majority draw.

As for Mayweather, he retired from professional boxing in 2017 after compiling a flawless 50-0 record. He's participated in multiple exhibition fights since, though.
