Trey Hendrickson Was 'Looking Forward' to Playing with Maxx Crosby Before Failed Ravens Trade

Adam WellsMar 27, 2026

Trey Hendrickson seemed to confirm that he factored into the Baltimore Ravens' plans even when the team still had a trade agreement in place to acquire Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Appearing on The Set podcast with former NFL offensive lineman Terron Armstead (starts at 25:30 mark), Hendrickson explained that he was "looking forward" to potentially playing with Crosby if things had worked out that way.

"I wasĀ looking forward to rushingĀ with him," said Hendrickson. "Like what an incredible opportunity that would have been to have a bookends like that terrorizing quarterbacks, getting running backs to the ground. That's what got me excited."

The Ravens and Raiders agreed to a deal on March 6 that would have sent Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks.

On March 10, the Raiders announced that Baltimore backed out of the agreement due to concerns over Crosby's physical. The following day it was reported that the Ravens agreed to a four-year, $112 million deal with Hendrickson in free agency.

Even though there was speculation within the NFL among general managers that the Ravens got cold feet and pivoted to sign Hendrickson, general manager Eric DaCosta told reporters they were having discussions with Hendrickson's agent prior to the failed trade and thought about the potential of adding "two pass rushers on the defensive line, on both sides of the line."

Hendrickson's comments do support DaCosta's statement that the Ravens were at least considering adding both players.

It's hard to figure out how they would have made that work given their salary cap situation, but they could have figured it out since they seemingly want to do all they can to maximize their ceiling with Lamar Jackson still in the prime of his career.

The pairing of Hendrickson and Crosby would have been fascinating to watch if things had come together. They recorded a combined 14 sacks last season, even though Hendrickson missed 10 games due to injuries.

Baltimore's entire defense finished the 2025 season with 30 sacks. The unit ranked 28th in ESPN's pass-rush win rate metric.
