Daniel Jeremiah Gives Take on If Ty Simpson Should Be 1st-Round Pick in 2026 NFL Draft on Video
Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson could slip to the second round of the 2026 NFL draft.
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah explained why he views Simpson as a second-round selection on Wednesday.
"I've always thought of him as second-round pick," Jeremiah told SiriusXM's Adam Schein (0:32 mark). "I think when you're an evaluator, the word 'value' comes into play. I like him. I don't think it's you love him or you hate him. I like him. I think he's got really good feet, he's got a nice stroke, he can make layered throws, there's a lot of good things. He did it over seven, eight games, which was impressive."

Report: Falcons, Jags Make DT Trade

Re-Drafting Every Team's Worst Draft Pick of the Century 😡

Every Team's Ideal 1st-Round Pick 👌
"There's three or four games, including the conference championship game against Georgia, which was not good," he added. "So, there's some uneven play there. Then you add the fact that he's not the biggest guy in the world. You put that together with 15 starts, you're fighting up the hill here."
Simpson is coming off a junior season with the Crimson Tide in which he completed 64.5 percent of his throws for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to five interceptions. He also rushed for two scores.
Simpson might be a Day 2 pick in the upcoming draft, as he wasn't selected in the first round of the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson discussed Simpson's room for improvement in his scouting report.
"Simpson must improve his anticipation of throwing from the pocket, which is most likely a result of being a first-year starter," Parson wrote. "He waits for his target to complete their break, specifically on out-breaking routes, leading to late throws."
The first round of the 2026 NFL draft will take place on April 23.
