Jaxon Smith-Njigba Says There's 'Another Level to Reach' After Historic Seahawks Contract

Scott PolacekMar 25, 2026

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a Super Bowl champion, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year and now the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, but it is just the start of what is to come in his eyes.

"For me, there's always more work to be done," the Seattle Seahawks star told reporters Wednesday (4:15 mark). "There's always another level to reach. But it is a blessing. This is a business, and I want to do good business."

The comments come after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Smith-Njigba agreed to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension with Seattle that featured more than $120 million in guarantees. The guaranteed money and $42.15 million annual average were both records for a wide receiver.

The extension was well earned, as Smith-Njigba turned in an unbelievable 2025 campaign.

He finished with 119 catches for a league-best 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season before scoring a touchdown in the NFC Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers and exploding for 10 catches for 153 yards and a score in the NFC Championship Game victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

While he was relatively quiet from an individual perspective in the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots with four catches for 27 yards, his team reached the NFL mountaintop and lifted the Lombardi Trophy.

And that only set the stage for the next "level to reach" for the Ohio State product.

"The only thing better than one Super Bowl is two," Smith-Njigba said when asked what's next. "Just working to get there, and whatever my team needs from me, I'll make sure I get it done."

The 2023 first-round draft pick is just 24 years old and already in discussions as the best wide receiver in the league. Nobody was better than him during the 2025 season, and he is a major reason the Seahawks are now the team the rest of the NFL is chasing after the latest Super Bowl.

Given his age, individual production and champion status, Smith-Njigba was an obvious candidate for a record-setting contract, and the Seahawks made sure the next level he plans on reaching will happen in their uniform by delivering that extension.
