Serena Williams to Be Honored With Barbie Dream Fest Icon Award, Angel Reese Will Attend Event

Legendary tennis player Serena Williams is set to be honored at a star-studded event in Florida later this week.

Williams will be the first-ever recipient of the Barbie Dream Fest Icon Award and will be the keynote speaker for the event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The event begins on Thursday and concludes on Saturday.

"We are beyond thrilled to welcome Serena Williams to Barbie Dream Fest as the inaugural Icon Award recipient," a statement from the event read on Instagram. "A true trailblazer, Serena has revolutionized women's tennis with her powerful style of play and holds 23 Grand Slam singles titles — more than any other woman in the Open Era. She's also a four-time Olympic gold medalist, fashion icon, entrepreneur, and role model who inspires generations to dream bigger and break barriers."

While Williams is headlining the Barbie Dream Fest, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese will be in attendance, too. The third-year player is part of a featured panel of speakers and will discuss how she "defines a new era of athletic excellence, with off-court endeavors in podcasting, philanthropy, and more," according to Barbie Dream Fest's Instagram

"It's incredible — it's bigger than just an event, it's history," Reese said, per Samantha Neely of The Palm Beach Post. "You look at who I'm sharing this time with… Serena Williams, who redefined greatness, and Dr. Swati Mohan, who's literally changing the world through science."
