Zach Wilson, Saints Reportedly Agree to Contract in NFL FA to Join Tyler Shough, Rattler in QB Room
The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent quarterback Zach Wilson on Tuesday, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Wilson received a one-year deal from New Orleans, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The former first-round pick spent the 2025 season as a backup with the Miami Dolphins and will now join a Saints quarterback room that includes Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler.

Wilson was initially selected by the New York Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, starting in 13 games as a rookie before appearing in nine contests during his second year.
The Jets eventually signed Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback ahead of the 2023 season, although Rodgers' Week 1 Achilles tear resulted in Wilson suiting up in 12 games.
He failed to meet expectations during his tenure in New York, completing 57.0 percent of his throws for 6,293 yards and 23 touchdowns compared to 25 interceptions across three years with the team.
Wilson spent the 2024 season as a depth option on the Denver Broncos, but didn't see any playing time despite performing admirably in the preseason.
He made brief appearances in four games with the Dolphins last season, completing six of his 11 pass attempts for 32 yards.
While Shough will enter training camp as New Orleans' starting signal-caller following an impressive rookie season, Wilson could battle with Rattler for the second spot on the team's depth chart.
Rattler started eight games for the Saints in 2025 before he was replaced by Shough, as they owned a 1-7 record prior to the quarterback change.
Now, Wilson is in the mix as New Orleans attempts to build upon a 6-11 finish.
