
Shohei Ohtani's WBC Jersey Sells for $1.5M to Set New World Record at Auction
One of Shohei Ohtani's game-worn jerseys from the World Baseball Classic hit seven figures at auction Sunday.
According to ESPN's Dan Hajducky, $1.5 million was the final price after 298 bids. It's the most paid for an Ohtani jersey at auction.
The four-time MLB MVP donned the top in Japan's 13-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in the pool stage. He went 3-for-4 with five runs batted in. Starting in the leadoff spot, he contributed to Japan's 10-run explosion in the second inning by hitting a grand slam and bringing home another run on an RBI single.
