DeAndre Hopkins Open to Kyler Murray Reunion on Vikings amid Bengals Contract Tease in Free Agency
Free-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is more than willing to pursue a reunion with quarterback Kyler Murray if the Minnesota Vikings are on board.
"Kyler, that's my boy, man. Kyler is like family," Hopkins told TMZ Sports. "... Whatever I can do for someone like that — if Kyler needed me, if the Vikings need me, they know I'll be there."
On Saturday, the five-time Pro Bowler had some fans wondering whether he had a different destination in mind. He and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow were on the same team in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, and he posted some cryptic messages on social media:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Murray and Hopkins were teammates for three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.
Hopkins caught 115 passes for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. That year, he famously hauled in a Hail Mary in the final moments of a win over the Buffalo Bills:
The next two seasons were more forgettable, though, as the veteran pass-catcher logged 19 combined appearances between 2021 and 2022. The Cardinals released him outright in May 2023.
Hopkins told TMZ Sports he and Murray have remained in contact, including during this past year. Injuries limited Murray to five starts, and his IR designation in November signaled the beginning of the end for his run in Arizona. Hopkins wanted to provide any support he could amidst those struggles.
Signing with the Vikings presents Murray with an opportunity to rediscover his old self and build his value back up. Minnesota, meanwhile, added serious competition to J.J. McCarthy for the starting role.
As much as Hopkins might like to join Murray in Minneapolis, the team doesn't have a pressing need for another receiver with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison in the fold. More is probably expected of Tai Felton, a third-round pick in the 2025 draft, as well.
There's also the fact that Hopkins, who turns 34 in June, has shown a pronounced decline. His 330 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs with the Baltimore Ravens were career lows.
If coach Kevin O'Connell is still looking to add depth to the receiving corps, he probably has other targets atop his wish list.
