Giants' Cam Skattebo Apologizes for CTE, Asthma Comments in IG Post, 'Had a Lapse in Judgment'
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo issued an apology for his prior comments on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and asthma.
"I recently did an interview and had a lapse in judgment, which resulted in me making a tasteless joke about CTE and asthma," Skattebo wrote in a post on Instagram. "It was never my intention to downplay the seriousness of head injuries or asthma. I sincerely apologize to anyone that was offended by my remarks, and I assure you that I'll be more mindful and respectful going forward."

He also sent out the message on X.
Skattebo previously said that that CTE wasn't real and was an "excuse" during a recent appearance on the Bring the Juice with Frank Dalena podcast (via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk). He also called asthma "fake" later in the podcast.
CTE is a neurodegenerative disease connected with repeated blows to the head, as several former NFL players have been posthumously diagnosed with it.
Skattebo is coming off a rookie season with the Giants in which he rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns in eight games, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. He also factored into New York's passing attack, hauling in 24 receptions for 207 yards and two scores.
Skattebo's inaugural season came to an early end due to a dislocated ankle that he suffered in Oct. 2025.
