Since 2025, MLB's reigning MVPs, Cy Young Award winners and Rookie of the Year winners have worn unique gold MLB logo patches on their jerseys. Only those six players receive the patches each year.
Fanatics Collect vice president of marketplace Kevin Lenane discussed the program following the sale.
"[The program] was in response to what we're always looking for: True authenticity, particularly in the patch," Lenane told Hajducky. "There's player-worn, match-worn, patches matched to specific events. There's something special about a collector being connected to the event through the materials."
Ohtani and Judge both won MVP honors for the National League and American League last season, respectively. Ohtani's jersey patch comes from a game against the Cleveland Guardians in May 2025, while Judge's patch came from a jersey he wore against the Dodgers four days later.
