Caleb Williams Files Trademark for 'Iceman,' Silhouette of Iconic Throw for Bears
Perhaps nobody in the NFL had more proverbial ice in their veins in clutch moments during the 2025 season than Caleb Williams, and the Chicago Bears quarterback filed a trademark for a fitting nickname.
Josh Gerben, who is a lawyer, explained that Williams submitted trademark applications on Monday with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for his "Iceman" nickname and a logo that is a silhouette of one of his most famous throws.
The filings indicated an intent to use the trademarks on products such as apparel, sporting goods, footballs, digital trading cards and sunglasses.
According to Gerben, such a process usually takes between 14 and 18 months.
The logo should immediately jump out to Bears fans, as it was "inspired by a pivotal fourth-and-8 play during a playoff matchup in Green Bay last season … that helped cement his reputation for late-game composure."
That 4th-and-8 throw was part of an incredible comeback for Chicago, which scored 25 points in the fourth quarter alone to overcome a 21-6 deficit and defeat the Green Bay Packers. The completion to Rome Odunze kept a drive alive that ended in a touchdown, and Williams then found DJ Moore on the Bears' ensuing possession for the game-winning score.
It might not have even been his most incredible comeback against the Packers last season, though, as Williams and the Bears overcame a 10-point deficit in the final two minutes to defeat their rival in Week 16.
That game featured a recovered onside kick, fourth-down conversion for a touchdown and deep ball to Moore in overtime for the win, which went a long way toward clinching the NFC North during the regular season.
In all, Williams led seven game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime last season, which is why he earned the nickname Iceman. He even delivered in the clutch in the team's playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams in what may have been the play of the season.
He sprinted straight back on a fourth-down play and launched what proved to be a perfectly placed deep ball to Cole Kmet in the corner of the end zone to force overtime.
While the Bears lost, it wasn't hard to see why fans call Williams the Iceman.
