Browns' Full Rule Change Proposal for Trading Future NFL Draft Picks Revealed
The Cleveland Browns have proposed a rule change regarding draft compensation in trades.
The Browns' proposal would allow teams to trade draft picks up to five years in the future compared to the current limitation of three years, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The proposal will be sent to every NFL team for consideration prior to the Annual League Meeting, which takes place from March 29 through April 1.
ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported that teams would look to extend the amount of years that future draft choices can be traded.
"I'm gonna tell you right now there are going to be people in the NFL this offseason that push to have that limit grown to five years," Schefter reported during a Feb. 9 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
"There is going to be a push by at least one team this offseason to extend the NFL trade limits from three years of picks to five years of picks," he added.
The Browns are already familiar with giving up large amounts of draft assets to trade for players. They sent out first-round picks in 2022, 2023 and 2024 as part of the package to acquire Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans in March 2022.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones noted that he would be "floored" if the proposal passed, as proposals are rarely approved during the first year that they're introduced.
Still, NFL owners will meet to discuss the potential rule change in the near future.
