Jack Hughes Reveals He Got 10 Stitches for Tongue Injury, Talks Olympic Golden Goal for Team USA
Chipped front teeth apparently weren't the only injury Jack Hughes suffered before scoring in overtime of Team USA's gold medal game against Canada during the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.
Hughes also played most of the third period with a tongue injury, he revealed around the 33:20 mark when appearing alongside his brother Quinn Hughes on Wednesday's episode of Wingmen with Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, a Wave Original.
"I can't even talk, because of my tongue right now," Hughes laughed. "To the viewers, I have 10 stitches in my tongue."

Hughes lost parts of multiple teeth after taking a high stick from Canada's Sam Bennett early in the tied third period on Feb. 22.
He stayed in the game to secure the United States' first men's hockey gold in 46 years by scoring on Jordan Binnington 1:41 into overtime.
Hughes said on a March 3 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he planned to get his teeth fixed, although they were still chipped as of the filming of Wednesday's Wingmen episode.
The 24-year-old has continued riding his Olympic momentum with New Jersey Devils, where he has racked up 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in ten games since his return from Milan.
