Steelers Icon Rod Woodson Urges Team to 'Move Forward' Amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors on NFL Future
The Pittsburgh Steelers chose not to address the quarterback position in free agency while waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on his future in the NFL, and one franchise legend isn't pleased.
During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Hall of Famer Rod Woodson suggested that the Steelers should be preparing to move on from Rodgers for the 2026 season.
"What is it with these ex-Green Bay Packer quarterbacks that they have to be talked about all the time?" Woodson told Eisen (h/t Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk). "Because Brett Favre was that way for years... Is [Rodgers] gonna play? Listen, I get kind of tired of it. Like, listen, if he's gonna play, say he's gonna play, he's gonna come back... And the team shouldn't wait for Aaron Rodgers. They need to move forward."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Rodgers recently said there have been no "progressive conversations" with the Steelers about a contract for 2026. However, he made it clear that he hasn't yet decided on whether he's returning for a 22nd season in the NFL.
Woodson went on to declare that the Steelers should've drafted quarterback Jaxson Dart last year. In its latest 2026 mock draft, B/R's NFL Scouting Department predicted that Pittsburgh would use a third-round pick to select Penn State quarterback Drew Allar.
Rodgers doesn't appear to be in a rush to return to the Steelers, so the franchise would be wise to follow Woodson's advice and secure a viable starting quarterback before it's too late.
