World Baseball Classic Prize Money Reportedly Revealed Ahead of USA vs. Venezuela Final
The winner of this year's World Baseball Classic will walk away with a big haul in prize money.
Per The Athletic's Evan Drellich, each player on the winning team of Tuesday's final between the United States and Venezuela will earn over $100,000 in prize money.
The lofty payout comes after streaming service Netflix signed a deal with the WBC for Japanese broadcast rights. According to Drellich, that deal was worth over $100 million.

Drellich added that payouts for all 20 teams playing in the World Baseball Classic have more than doubled since the last one in 2023. The payouts for players are just half of the total prize money, with the other half going to the respective team. The total haul each respective federation takes home depends on how far it advanced in the tournament.
While sports airing on streaming services have become commonplace in the United States, Drellich noted that it is not as common in Japan, leading to a bit of controversy over the WBC's decision to sign a deal with Netflix.
According to Drellich, viewership figures and other statistics will be released by MLB after the tournament.
The United States will once again play in the World Baseball Classic final after downing the Dominican Republic 2-1 in Sunday's semifinal. Venezuela used a seventh-inning rally on Monday to get past Italy, which previously upset Team USA in pool play.
While the United States brings a star-studded roster with players like Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper and more, Venezuela also features some MLB talent, highlighted by Ronald Acuña Jr., Luis Arraez and Eugenio Suarez.
A win for Team USA would mark its first since 2017, while a Venezuelan victory would be its first ever in the World Baseball Classic.
