Maxx Crosby Reveals Reaction to Raiders' Moves in NFL Free Agency During Ravens Trade

Julia StumbaughMar 17, 2026

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby talked about the range of emotions he went through during the four days he thought he was being traded to the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday's episode of The Rush With Maxx Crosby.

The Raiders agreed to trade Crosby on Friday, March 6 before the Ravens backed out of the deal on Tuesday, March 10.

Crosby said he was getting updates on his phone as the Raiders made multiple moves in free agency during that four-day span, including signing three-time Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum.

"That Monday night, when I got in, after I worked out, and I'm chilling in the hotel, it's kind of late, but I can't sleep, my emotions are everywhere," Crosby said. "It's like, 'Raiders making moves!' I couldn't even open my phone. Everything was Raiders, Raiders, Raiders, and I'm like damn. This is crazy. But I'm trying just to stay focused. I'm here in Baltimore, this is it.

"All this s--t unravels on Tuesday, and then all of a sudden I'm back, flying back the next day. Never would have thought in a million years."

The Raiders announced around 5 p.m. local time that Tuesday that the Ravens had backed out of the trade. Crosby said he got back to Las Vegas just after midnight the following Wednesday.

"I got right up, 4:55 the next morning. I got my ass in the building, right back to work," Crosby said.

ESPN's Ryan McFadden reported that the Ravens cancelled the trade "because of medical concerns that arose during a physical."

Crosby, who sat out the last two games of the 2025 season with a knee injury, is in the "early part of his rehab" following surgery to treat a meniscus tear this offseason, his surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache said in a statement.

"S--t happens for a reason. I know exactly who I am. I'm healthy, I'm f--king crushing my rehab, I'm doing what I'm doing," Crosby said. "I wasn't supposed to be in Baltimore, and that's it. I'm meant to be a Raider, it's through my damn core."

Crosby's reaffirmation of his commitment to the Raiders echoes a report from Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, who wrote that he feels it is unlikely the Raiders will try to trade Crosby again this offseason, both because of injury concerns potentially lowering Crosby's trade value and because "some of the fractured trust between Crosby and the Raiders was rebuilt organically last week."

"The team showed the five-time Pro Bowler that it had his back, in reaching out and offering any help he needed after the Ravens backed out of the trade," Breer wrote.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak will now be tasked with determining the best way to fit in newcomers like Kwity Paye, originally tabbed as a potential Crosby replacement, into a defensive line still starring Crosby before the start of the 2026 season.
