Davante Adams Trade Rumors Downplayed by Adam Schefter amid A.J. Brown, Rams Buzz

Julia StumbaughMar 17, 2026

ESPN's Adam Schefter says the Los Angeles Rams are planning to keep Davante Adams after rumors surfaced that they were exploring trading him and acquiring Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown.

Schefter cited the $6 million roster bonus recently triggered in Adams' contract when speaking about the likelihood he stays in Los Angeles on Tuesday's episode of the Pat McAfee Show.

"You're not paying a $6 million bonus, and then moving the guy the next day," Schefter said. "So, that's not happening anytime soon."

Schefter's comments come the day after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Rams had looked "deeply" into a potential trade with the Eagles for Brown.

"They are essentially, as far as I can tell, out on the situation," Rapoport said Monday.

NBC Sports' Mike Florio reported that the Rams "were pursuing the possibility of trading Adams" while investigating a potential trade for Brown.

Adams is set to play next season on an expiring contract. Florio noted that any trade would likely have taken place before his roster bonus was triggered on Sunday.

The Eagles could still decide to trade Brown, although Rapoport noted it "makes sense" to wait until after June 1 in order to lower the dead cap hit he would leave behind in Philadelphia.

Any team looking to acquire Brown would likely need to be willing to five up a first-round pick in return. Eagles could be hoping to receive a bigger haul than the first-rounder, third-rounder and fourth-round pick swap the Miami Dolphins acquired by trading Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday.

Wherever Brown lands, it sounds like the Rams are for now planning to move forward with Puka Nacua and Adams leading their wide receiver depth chart.
