Lindsey Vonn 'Not Ready to Discuss' Skiiing Future Amid Retirement Buzz After 2026 Olympics Injury

After suffering a devastating leg injury in a crash at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is rightfully taking her time to decide what she wants to do next.

Vonn took to social media to declare, "No, I'm not ready to discuss my future in skiing," and she asked for fans and pundits to cease the speculation about her next move.

Vonn went on to add that despite her declaration that she isn't discussing her future, it "doesn't mean I'm racing… it means I'm not ready to think about it yet. Rehab and recovery first…decide on where I go next in life later. Lots of life left to live. Will cross that bridge when I get to it."

Vonn has been forced to undergo several surgeries on her left leg since suffering a complex tibia fracture, and she said last month that she was saved from amputation. Following the crash, Vonn's father, Alan Kildow, publicly called for her retirement.

"She's 41 years old and this is the end of her career," Kildow told Andrew Dampf of the Associated Press in February. "There will be no more ski races for Lindsey Vonn, as long as I have anything to say about it."

However, the three-time Olympic medalist spent much of the weekend firing back at critics on social media who were suggesting that she hang up her skis for good.

"Who said I was retiring?" Vonn responded to one fan.

Someone else told her, "The ego is so strong in this one. Take your medicine Lindsey. You nearly lost your leg. Put your feet up and be done." Vonn clarified, "Think you're mistaking ego for joy. I've said it my whole life; I love skiing. I'll put my feet up when I'm good and ready thank you."

Vonn deserves time to rest and recover before making any final decisions about her career, so hopefully the social media warriors will ease up and let her focus on herself.
