Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored the Dominican Republic's opening run of their World Baseball Classic quarterfinal matchup against Korea with a leaping dive into home base.

Guerrero's run on a second-inning RBI double from Junior Caminero allowed the Dominican Republic to open the scoring Friday at Miami's loanDepot park.

Guerrero racked up six hits and two home runs in 12 at-bats across his first four games for the Dominican Republic.

He started out Friday's second inning by working a five-pitch walk off Korea's Hyun Jin Ryu.

Guerrero was back on base the next inning with an RBI double. Juan Soto made it home on the hit thanks to his own dive into home plate that helped the Dominican Republic climb out to a 5-0 lead by the bottom of the third.

The Dominican Republic has been an offensive force throughout their undefeated run in WBC pool play, during which Soto and Fernando Tatís Jr. each contributed two home runs and five walks.

Guerrero, Soto, Tatís and the rest of the Dominican Republic are now playing for the chance to face either Canada or the United States in the semifinal.

On the other side of the bracket, quarterfinal matchups between Puerto Rico and Italy and between Venezuela and Japan will determine who gets the chance to play for the 2026 World Baseball Classic title.

The Dominican Republic is hoping to win the country's first WBC title since 2013, while the United States (2017 champions) and Japan (2023 champions) have repeat title aspirations.

Puerto Rico, runners-up in 2013 and 2017, join Korea, Venezuela and Italy as hopeful first-time winners.

Which country gets to claim the 2026 title will come down to the championship game next Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET in Miami.
