Brett Favre Reacts to Video of Kyler Murray Saying He Cried After Vikings' 2009 NFC Title Game Loss

Minnesota Vikings fans already have something in common with their team's new quarterback.

They were all distraught after the 2009 season's NFC Championship Game.

Murray, who signed with the Vikings on Thursday, addressed the media Friday and revealed he cried "real tears" after Brett Favre's interception deep in New Orleans Saints' territory cost Minnesota the chance to reach the Super Bowl.

Favre took to social media in response and said "that's the loss that hurts the most."

The game was tied in the final minute with the Vikings driving in Saints' territory when Favre ran to the right, threw across his body and unleashed a pass that was intercepted by Tracy Porter. Had the pass even been incomplete, Minnesota could have attempted a long field goal for the win.

New Orleans ended up winning in overtime with a field goal of its own before the Vikings even possessed the ball.

The Saints then went on to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in the ensuing Super Bowl with Porter's pick-six of Peyton Manning standing out as one of the most important plays.

Minnesota has come close but never won a Super Bowl, and now it will be up to Murray to change that. There is plenty of talent in place with Justin Jefferson T.J. Hockenson, Jordan Addison, Aaron Jones and others, and the Vikings went 9-8 last season despite poor quarterback play from J.J. McCarthy.

McCarthy had 11 touchdown passes to 12 interceptions and struggled in a number of key moments. If Murray, who is a two-time Pro Bowler, plays at even a solid level, the Vikings could improve by one or two wins and reach the playoffs.

If he doesn't, there may be more tears in Minnesota.
