Scottie Scheffler Hits Driving Range in Pouring Rain on Video After Players Championship Round 1

Bad weather didn't stop Scottie Scheffler from getting in some extra practice after a level-par first round at The Players Championship.

The world No. 1 was spotted on the driving range in pouring rain after his 72-stroke opening round on Thursday at TPC Sawgrass.

Weather resulted in both a brief rain delay and a push back of the afternoon tee time in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

The area is expecting clear days on Friday and Saturday, followed by the potential return of thunderstorms on Sunday, per Accuweather.

Scheffler, who recently went back to using his go-to driver after switching ahead of a T24 finish at last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, landed just seven of 14 fairways in Thursday's opening round.

He recorded four birdies but added four bogeys, including back-to-back over-par finishes on two of his last three holes, to finish outside the top 30 on the post-Round 1 leaderboard.

"I would argue that the only thing I did all that great today was putt," Scheffler said after the round, per the Golf Channel's Brentley Romine.

Scheffler will hope his extra practice pays off when he returns to the course Friday for his 1:42 p.m. ET Round 1 tee time.
