Maxx Crosby Fallout Dominates Day 4 of NFL Free Agency 2026 as Rumors Swirl on Raiders Future

Kristopher KnoxMar 12, 2026

The frenzy of NFL free agency has finally started to slow, but the drama of the week hasn't subsided just yet.

Las Vegas Raiders edge-rusher Maxx Crosby was scheduled to go to the Baltimore Ravens in a blockbuster trade. However, the deal was rescinded by Baltimore on Tuesday evening over a failed physical.

Since then, Crosby's future—in Las Vegas or elsewhere—has been one of the biggest storylines in the league. Fortunately, we got a little clarity on the situation on Thursday.

Let's examine the latest on Crosby's future and dive into the latest free-agent buzz from Thursday.

Crosby Back with Raiders, Reportedly Won't Be Traded

The Ravens quickly moved on from Crosby and signed former Cincinnati Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson. Crosby, meanwhile, returned to Las Vegas and reignited the trade speculation.

Teams that were in the Crosby market before the Ravens deal were reportedly back in it. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders received "several" calls from interested teams beginning on Tuesday night.

The entire drama stemmed from Crosby's discontent with being shut down at the end of the 2025 season. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the star defender "quietly" requested a trade early in the offseason.

Late Wednesday night, though, Crosby made it clear that he was ready to continue his Raiders career.

"Everything Happens For A Reason. Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I'm Back," Crosby posted on X.

On Thursday, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio reported that Las Vegas is now telling teams that Crosby won't be traded. This doesn't mean that Crosby will be a Raider for life, but it sure sounds like he's off the trade market for now.

Bengals, Browns Continue Retooling Rosters

The Cincinnati Bengals have spent the early offseason reloading a defense that has kept them out of the playoffs over the past two years.

Early in the week, the Bengals added edge-rusher Boye Mafe and safety Bryan Cook. On Thursday, they signed defensive tackle Jonathan Allen to a two-year, $28 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Allen spent last season with the Minnesota Vikings and finished with 68 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 17 starts.

Cincinnati also extended starting offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. with a new two-year deal, per Schefter.

While the Bengals may be adding the missing pieces of their playoff puzzle, their in-state rivals are busy churning over an aging roster.

The Cleveland Browns are in the early stages of a rebuild under new head coach Todd Monken. They did add a few pieces this week, including guard Zion Johnson and linebacker Quincy Williams, but they've also parted with some longtime centerpieces.

Cleveland released starting right tackle Jock Conklin, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. According to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi, it also released tight end David Njoku and guard Wyatt Teller with post-June 1 designations.

The Browns and Bengals may both look a bit different in 2026, but only one of them is likely to be a contender.

Day 4 of Free Agency Largely About Budget Moves

Considering how hectic things were during the legal-contact window, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Thursday was relatively slow. This doesn't mean that teams didn't find some real value on Day 4.

The Kansas City Chiefs, for example, picked up a sneaky-good secondary addition in former Miami Dolphins corner Kader Kohou. The 27-year-old missed all of 2025 with a torn ACL but allowed an opposing passer rating of only 79.3 in coverage the previous season.

The Tennessee Titans added another piece to their defense, signing linebacker Jacob Martin. The 30-year-old appeared in all 17 games with the Washington Commanders last season and finished with 39 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

Like other new Titans John Franklin-Myers, Jermaine Johnson II, and Soloman Thomas, Martin has experience with head coach Robert Saleh from his time with the New York Jets.

Tennessee is getting Martin on a two-year, $11 million deal, according to The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala. Washington also added running back Rachaad White on a one-year deal, per Schefter.

The Commanders also re-signed offensive lineman Trent Scott, while the Philadelphia Eagles re-signed punter Braden Mann, and the Denver Broncos re-signed receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey.
