Kyler Murray Schedules Vikings Visit, Zoom Calls After Cardinals Release amid Latest NFL FA Rumors
The Minnesota Vikings are widely viewed as the favorite to sign the newly-released Kyler Murray, and the former Arizona Cardinals quarterback will get one step closer to possibly signing with them later this week.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Murray will visit with the Vikings on Thursday. The Cardinals officially released Murray on Wednesday.
Of course, the decision is far from final. The quarterback will also meet virtually with a handful of teams over the next two days, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network:
While there have been multiple reports, including from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, calling the Vikings the favorites to land Murray, things could still change in the coming days. If he doesn't end up in Minnesota, Murray has been linked to the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Jets.
As far as what kind of deal Murray is seeking, money reportedly isn't an issue. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Wednesday that Murray is "locked in on playing at the minimum" and plans to "make this a football-only decision."
The Vikings could be the perfect place for Murray to try to turn things around after a failed tenure in Arizona. Head coach Kevin O'Connell has a track record of success with quarterbacks, with Super Bowl-winning quarterback Sam Darnold being the most recent example.
It's hard to say how difficult it would be for Murray to earn the starting job immediately in Minnesota. The Vikings surely haven't given up on former first-round pick J.J. McCarthy just yet, but after his struggles in 2025, the team needs at least one reliable option under center.
Murray played just five games in 2025, throwing for 962 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. While it was a rough year, Murray is only a few seasons removed from making back-to-back Pro Bowls and leading the Cardinals to the playoffs in 2021.
The Vikings, or whichever other team signs Murray, will hope to bring back that version of him.
