Eagles Reportedly Adjust Dallas Goedert Contract Void Date, Eye Extension Before NFL Free Agency
The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly giving themselves even more time to negotiate with Dallas Goedert.
Zach Berman of The Athletic reported that both sides have agreed to push the void date on the tight end's contract to Monday, after previously agreeing to push the deadline to Friday afternoon. That meant he wasn't listed as a free agent by the NFL at the start of the new league year, which was a "procedural move" to "give both sides a chance to work out a contract extension."

Last month, Cayden Steele of NJ.com reported the majority opinion was Goedert would not return to the Eagles "especially after taking a pay cut last offseason to come back for one more year when he was hoping for an extension."
Yet NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said last month during an appearance on The Anthony Gargano Show, "I know Dallas would like to come back... all things equal."
Despite the different reports, it seems like the veteran and Eagles are still working through some things with this additional time. If nothing else, it will allow both sides to assess the early developments in free agency and make a more informed decision.
Goedert has been with Philadelphia his entire career since it selected him with a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, and he helped lead the franchise to a Super Bowl title during the 2024 campaign.
The South Dakota State product has largely been a solid contributor with six seasons of more than 500 receiving yards.
While his career-high in touchdown catches was just five entering the 2025 campaign, that changed in a major way. Goedert established himself as a red-zone threat and finished the season with 60 catches for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns.
It was quite a performance in a contract year and surely caught the eye of other teams around the league. With so much uncertainty surrounding the A.J. Brown situation in Philadelphia, perhaps the team is thinking twice about losing a tight end who just scored double-digit touchdowns last season.
If that is the case, the NFC East team at least has more time to figure out its next step.
