New NFL Rumors on Eagles' Pursuit of Jonathan Greenard Trade, Free Agency Targets

Andrew PetersMar 11, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly are eyeing pass-rush reinforcements as free agency officially gets underway on Wednesday.

Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Eagles "continue to inquire about" a trade for Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard. Russini added that Philadelphia has been in contact with Greenard's agent about a possible extension should he be traded to the Eagles.

According to Russini, the Eagles are also "keeping tabs" on free agent pass rushers after Trey Hendrickson signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

Philadelphia has already seen a pair of linebackers depart in free agency this year. Jaelan Phillips, whom the Eagles acquired from the Miami Dolphins last year, signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. Nakibe Dean joined the Las Vegas Raiders on a three-year, $36 million contract.

The Eagles also saw former edge rushers Azeez Ojulari (Atlanta Falcons) and Josh Uche (Miami Dolphins) depart for new teams on Wednesday.

Russini reported Wednesday that the Eagles made an offer to Hendrickson, but he ultimately inked a four-year, $112 million pact with Baltimore after the Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.

With one of the top free agents and one of the best rushers in the NFL off the board, the Eagles are looking into secondary options.

The 28-year-old Greenard, a Pro Bowler in 2024, is coming off a season in which he recorded 38 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble. He missed five games during the 2025 campaign because of a left shoulder injury that required surgery.

Greenard is under contract for the next two years and has a cap hit of $22.1 million in 2026 and $22.3 million in 2027. Philadelphia has $12.6 million in cap space in 2026.

The free agent market is dwindling, but there are still some options for the Eagles. Joey Bosa is the top remaining edge rusher on Bleacher Report's free agency big board, followed by A.J. Epenesa and Leonard Floyd.
