Trey Hendrickson Rumors Reveal DE's Timeline For Contract Decision in NFL Free Agency

Zach BacharMar 10, 2026

Defensive end Trey Hendrickson is reportedly making his choice in free agency soon.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Hendrickson is expected to make a formal decision regarding his next team on Wednesday.

The four-time Pro Bowler has multiple contract offers on the table while several teams remain interested in his services, per Russini.

Hendrickson previously suited up for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2021-25.

Cincinnati ultimately chose not to use the franchise tag on him and allowed him to hit free agency. A return to the Bengals seems to be unlikely, as Hendrickson said goodbye to the team in a post on Instagram.

The 31-year-old only appeared in seven games during the 2025 season due to a core injury that later required surgery, although it's still easy to see why he's drawn interest as a free agent.

Hendrickson amassed 57 sacks across the first four years of his tenure with the Bengals, including a league-leading 17.5 sacks throughout his 2024 campaign. He also finished No. 2 in Defensive Player of the Year voting for that season.

Hendrickson's 81 career sacks rank No. 11 among all active players.

He could choose to go to a former AFC North rival in free agency, as the Baltimore Ravens backed out of a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders involving star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby on Tuesday.

An NFL general manager later texted NFL insider Jordan Schultz that the Ravens were "gonna sign" Hendrickson.

Baltimore only finished with 30 sacks during the 2025 season, ranking No. 29 among all teams.

As the Ravens search for pass-rush help, Hendrickson is nearing his free-agent decision.
