New Brian Thomas Jr. Trade Rumors Reveal Jaguars' Stance on Deal amid Giants, Jets Buzz

Andrew PetersMar 10, 2026

While a handful of rumors have suggested that the Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to move on from wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., that may not be the case.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday that the Jags "have not been interested" in trading Thomas.

"I've been told that the Jaguars are not interested in trading him," Schefter said. "They've denied it repeatedly. His name continues to come up in social media circles, floated out there. And again, for whatever reason, it doesn't go away. But every indication that I've gotten back is the Jaguars have no interest in moving on from Brian Thomas, despite all the speculation that's out there."

Earlier this week, Connor Hughes of SNY reported that the Jags were "entertaining offers" for Thomas, despite being unwilling to deal him at the trade deadline. ESPN's Rich Cimini noted that fans should "keep an eye" on Thomas as a possible candidate to land on the New York Jets.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reported last month that opposing teams were "monitoring" Thomas, though there had been no indication that Jacksonville was looking for a trade.

Thomas' name even being mentioned in trade speculation would have been a surprise after an outstanding rookie season in which he recorded 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.

While he appeared on his way to being the Jaguars' No. 1 receiver for years to come after his first season, he struggled a bit in Year 2. The former first-rounder missed three games because of an ankle injury and finished with just 707 yards and two touchdowns.

While that's not a bad second season by any means, it was a bit disappointing after what he did as a rookie. The breakout season from Parker Washington, who had 847 yards and five touchdowns, also might have suggested to fans that Jacksonville was willing to move on from Thomas.

Head coach Liam Coen addressed Thomas' decline after the season, citing an uptick in the team's overall talent for his lack of production.

"When you are part of a team that wins, the wealth will be shared," Coen told reporters. "It will never truly be about one player. I will continue to pour into these guys... BT will 100 percent be a part of that."

While the right offer might change the Jaguars' stance on trading Thomas, it seems that Jacksonville is content with keeping him on the roster for now.
