Travis Kelce Explains How Taylor Swift Motivated His Decision to Return to Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce's decision to return for a 14th NFL season was partly inspired by his fiancee, pop star Taylor Swift.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Kelce explained that he and Swift "share the same love for what we do," and he called it "motivating" to watch her continue her music career, which "without a doubt" led to his decision to keep playing after contemplating retirement.

Kelce admitted that his time contemplating retirement was "short and brief," but he quickly determined, "I'm still in love with this game." He hopes to chase a fourth Super Bowl title with the Chiefs during the 2026 season.
"I think my best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach [Andy] Reid," Kelce said. "Got my guy Eric Bieniemy back. There's a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I absolutely love, and I can't wait to get back in the building with them."
ESPN'sย Adam Schefterย reported on Monday that the Chiefs gave Kelce a one-year deal worth $12 million with a maximum value of $15 million. Kansas City also made a splash on the first day of free agency by signing former Seattle Seahawks running back and Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, which had Kelce excited.
"The Chiefs are making moves," heย told McAfee. "We've got Brett Veach and Andy Reid going and getting the Super Bowl MVP. You kidding me?!"
Mahomes is recovering from a torn ACL, but the return of Kelce and the addition of Walker create a solid foundation for when he's back under center as the Chiefs try to return to Super Bowl contention.
