Giants Must Target Brian Thomas Jr. Trade to Pair with Nabers, Help Jaxson Dart Amid NFL Rumors

Erik BeastonMar 10, 2026

The New York Giants have already had a busy offseason with the hiring of new head coach John Harbaugh and the addition of free agents Isaiah Likely, Tremaine Edmunds, Isaiah Hodges, and Ar'Darius Washington.

They may not be finished.

Connor Hughes of SNYTV reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars are "entertaining offers" for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and that the Giants had previously explored adding him ahead of last season's trade deadline.

It is a move the Giants must make to further improve an offense that has the electric third-year wideout Malik Nabers and a second-year quarterback in Jaxson Dart who showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie campaign.

The G-Men have already taken the necessary steps to improve the offense with the signing of pass-catching tight end Likely. Baltimore Ravens fans saw what he was capable of when given opportunities to connect with quarterback Lamar Jackson and Giants fans should be excited at the prospects of having a big, sure-handed tight end who can create mismatches from the snap of the ball.

Adding Thomas, who caught 135 balls in his first two seasons for 1,989 yards and 12 touchdowns, would mean opponents would not be able to double-team Nabers. Even with Thomas having a disappointing sophomore outing in Jacksonville, he continued to flash the tools that made him a breakout star in that first season with the Jaguars.

Putting him on the other side of the field from Nabers and making defenses account for both would open up the offense and give Dart another target, thus taking the pressure off of him to make a spectacular play and risk further injury.

A fast receiver with a quick release and the ability to locate the ball down the field, Thomas would enhance the downfield passing game, thanks to his unrivaled speed and separation skills.

His presence would also help open up the running game, which figures to be a huge part of what the offense wants to do under Harbaugh, with Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Cam Skattebo coming out of the backfield.

Rarely does a team have a second chance to acquire a dynamic young receiver whom they have already explored adding before. He fits schematically, gives the team another option at receiver following Wen'Dale Robinson's departure in free agency, and would demonstrate commitment to building the offense around Dart in year two.

The team needs him, the long-suffering fans deserve a potentially explosive offense, and the Giants can make it happen. It is the latest front office move the team must complete to re-establish relevancy in a league that they have been non-factors in for too long.
