The center market has already generated plenty of headlines early in the NFL offseason, and another veteran at the position is reportedly going to hit the open market.

The Green Bay Packers released Elgton Jenkins after a failed physical, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Monday the plans to release two-time Pro Bowler after seven years with the team.

Although health could be a concern for Jenkins, there are several teams who could still use the 30-year-old:

  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Cleveland Browns
  • Houston Texans
  • Tennessee Titans

Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk noted the Packers will save $19.5 million against the 2026 cap with a $4.8 million dead cap charge with this move.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the Packers attempted to trade Jenkins before moving on and suggested he will have a "strong market" despite his release.

The biggest news in the center market came Monday when Schefter reported the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a three-year, $81 million deal with Tyler Linderbaum. The contract featured $60 million in guarantees and made him the highest-paid interior offensive lineman in league history.

Jenkins will not get that type of deal, but he is a talented fall-back option for the teams that were unable to land Linderbaum.

The 2020 and 2022 Pro Bowler was a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft and one of the leaders up front for the Packers for much of his time with the NFC North team.

However, he was also a guard for the majority of his career as well.

Green Bay moved him to center to start the 2025 campaign, but injuries limited him to just nine games. Sean Rhyan took over at the position after Jenkins was sidelined and just agreed to a three-year, $33 million contract extension with the team, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

With Rhyan locked in at center, the Packers decided to move on from Jenkins and create additional resources to use elsewhere.
