Chris Godwin Drops Emoji Reaction After Mike Evans Leaves Bucs, Signs 49ers Contract in Free Agency
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin apparently isn't happy to see his longtime teammate Mike Evans leaving for the Bay Area.
Godwin reacted with a sad-faced emoji to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter that Evans is expected to sign a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers in free agency.

Evans could earn up to $60.4 million on his contract with the 49ers, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The former Tampa Bay wideout played 12 seasons with the Buccaneers, nine of which overlapped with Godwin.
The two both earned Pro Bowl nods in 2019, when they combined for 2,490 total receiving yards while catching passes from Tom Brady.
Godwin and Evans then went on to help Brady and the Buccaneers win the franchise's second Super Bowl after the 2020 season.
Evans recorded 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first 11 seasons with the Buccaneers, tying a longtime record set by Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, before injuries in 2025 derailed his quest for a historic 12th.
He parted ways with the Bucs in free agency after seeking a one-year contract with more salary than Tampa Bay was reportedly willing to offer, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.
Evans leaves Tampa Bay having set a franchise record with 13,052 career receiving yards. Godwin ranks second with 7,626 across his nine seasons with the franchise.
The Buccaneers still have Godwin signed for at least one more season with a club option for 2027.
The club will hope Godwin, who has been limited to just 16 games over the last two seasons, is able to stay healthy in 2026. He is currently set to join Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan as the top wide receivers left in Tampa Bay.
More consistent availability from Godwin could help Baker Mayfield and the Bucs bounce back from the late-season collapse that led to their franchise missing the playoffs last winter.
