Rashan Gary Shows Love to Packers in Farewell Video on IG After Cowboys Trade
Veteran defensive end Rashan Gary said goodbye to the Green Bay Packers on Monday after the team agreed to trade him to the Dallas Cowboys.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Packers are getting a 2027 draft pick back.
In a video on Instagram, Gary looked back on his tenure in Green Bay.
"Thank you, Green Bay. Grateful to the Packers organization, my teammates, and Packers nation for seven great years," he wrote. "Appreciate all the love and support!"
The Packers entered the free agency negotiating period with just $2.8 million. Moving on Gary, who's signed through 2027, gives general manager Brian Gutekunst a little more wiggle room.
Gary had perhaps inadvertently let the cat out of the bag with a farewell message last week that he quickly deleted.
ESPN's Rob Demovsky later reported Gary's account was hacked.
The 2024 Pro Bowler made 106 appearances for Green Bay, totaling 46.5 sacks, 46 tackles for loss and seven forced fumbles. A first-round pick in 2019, he was a consistent performer along the line.
For the Cowboys, this is the second notable acquisition they've made since sending Micah Parsons up north to Wisconsin. They landed Quinnen Williams ahead of the 2025 trade deadline.
Finding a direct replacement for Parsons is almost impossible. Few edge-rushers have been as impactful as three-time All-Pro.
Dallas might at least be able to create him in the aggregate.
The Cowboys certainly need Gary to deliver after they allowed more points than any other team and were 30th in total defense.
