Judge's first-inning long ball was the only home run hit by an American player in the Pool B opener.

The Americans flexed their patience and situational hitting from the second inning on.

Brice Turang had one of the biggest hits of the game, a three-run double in the fifth.

Team USA finally broke the game open with a seven-run ninth marred by walks.

Brazil, to its credit, hung with the Americans for eight innings. The sons of former big leaguers Manny Ramirez and Jose Contreras stole the spotlight for the South American country.

Lucas Ramirez hit a lead-off home run off Logan Webb, while Joseph Contreras, a 17-year-old high school prospect, turned in an impressive 1.1 innings.

Team USA will be back on the diamond in Houston on Saturday night to face Great Britain. Tarik Skubal is scheduled to start.
